Emergency Medical Services.

  • This unit operates the Putnam County rescue units. There are 70 full time and approximately a dozen part-time emergency medical technicians and paramedics who staff the 8 rescue units which are located at 7 stations in Putnam County to respond to your needs. The EMTs and paramedics are assigned to one of three shifts. They work 24-hours on duty, followed by 48 hours off. 

        
Volunteer Fire Departments.

  • The City of Palatka operates the only full-time fire department within Putnam County. The Crescent City Fire Department has paid staff Monday through Friday from 8 A. M. 5 P. M. All other municipalities and residents of unincorporated Putnam County are served by 18 volunteer fire departments. Two-full time staff of Emergency Services support the administrative, training and safety/environmental health needs of the departments. This is no easy task as nearly 421 men and women in Putnam County participate on one of the counties fire departments.

        
Emergency Management.  

  • The Division is responsible for the management of resources and responsibilities for dealing with all aspects of emergencies, in particularly preparedness, response and recovery. Emergency management involves plans, structures and arrangements established to engage the normal endeavors of government, voluntary and private agencies in a comprehensive and coordinated way to respond to the whole spectrum of emergency needs.
